This 1985 HDT VK SS Group A “Blue Meanie” tribute takes one of Australia’s most iconic performance car legends and turns the volume all the way up. Combining unmistakable VK styling with modern LS3 power and serious supercharged performance, this machine delivers classic Aussie muscle with a whole lot of attitude.
But it’s what lies beneath the bonnet that truly sets this beast apart.
Power comes from a 6.2L LS3 V8, enhanced by a Magnuson 2300 supercharger, upgraded camshaft, cylinder heads and supporting engine modifications. Backed by a custom twin exhaust system and extractors, this combination delivers an incredible 800HP, bringing serious forced induction grunt to an Australian icon.
Backing up that power is a built, fully manualised Turbo 400 transmission paired with a high stall converter, ready to put the power to the ground. Out back, a built BorgWarner diff features billet axles and a shortened housing, while the VK has been mini tubbed right to the rails to accommodate its tough stance.
Keeping everything under control is an upgraded fuel system and a Haltech ECU, giving the engine management a modern edge. A Haltech digital dash brings contemporary functionality to the cockpit, while electric power steering adds convenience behind the wheel.
The stance is unmistakable, with massive 22 inch Simmons wheels fitted front and rear, complemented by upgraded HSV brakes at both ends to provide enhanced stopping power.
Inside, the cabin has been brought up to scratch with a fully retrimmed HDT VK Scheel interior, staying true to the car’s legendary heritage while adding a fresh, finished feel. An electric sunroof and power windows bring extra comfort to this performance focused package.
